Jacob Sheep

The Gilbury Flock

We have a small flock of Jacob sheep which we are slowly expanding. This year we bought two older ewes which have had five lambs between them and we also bought two yearling ewes which we will be able to breed from next year. All our ewes are pedigree registered with the Jacob Sheep Society and the lambs are all birth notified.

The Jacob Breed

Jacob Sheep are a traditional and hardy breed which are know to be prolific breeders and excellent mothers. Their meat is of superb quality; slow growing they are lean and full of flavour. Their beautiful fleeces are highly sought after by spinners and weavers for the beautiful and unique colours. The hides are also beautiful when tanned. Even the horns are used and are popular with stick makers.

We will have lamb for sale each spring, but with only a handful of lambs each year we recommend booking well in advance. Please see our lamb page for further details.

Sheepskins

We get all our hides tanned and from the spring 2012 we will have sheep skins available to buy. Please see our sheepskin page for further details.
