Rare breed chickens for sale
Ixworth
AVAILABLE NOW! We have a stunning 6 month old, very active Ixworth Cockerel. Bred for the pot but too good to slaughter! Ixworths are a very rare breed which were developed after the war as a table bird. They were bred from Indian Game, White Sussex, Orpingtons and White Minorca. They fatten up in about 6 months in a totally free range environment and taste absolutely delicious. Please contact us if you are interested.

Indian Game
Indian Game are a traditional cornish breed. They are a very attractive, elegant dark bird who lay plenty of pale eggs (although not known for their laying, we have found they lay well). They are best known for their meat quality and a pure Indian Game will fatten up in around 6 months. However, if you cross Indian Game cockerels with a large breed such as Light Sussex or Orpingtons they fatten up to a hefty table weight in around 4 months when kept entirely free range.
Light Sussex, Marans and Araucanas
From 2011 we hope to have Light Sussex, French Copper Black Marans and Araucans for sale as point of lay hens. We currently have some young pure breed Lavender Araucana cockerels available; The egg colour is inherited through the males, if breed pure the offspring will lay a vivid blue egg, however, you can also cross breed to create all sorts of fantasic eggs, even green with pink spots! Please contact us for details,
