Our Meat

All our pork is from pure breed Gloucester Old Spot pigs raised here at Gilbury.  Our weaner boars are slaughtered at about 24 weeks. This helps to prevent any risk of boar taint that may occur if they are kept longer, as we do not castrate.  Any gilts are taken on longer to produce bacon, sausage and hams. We sell the meat by the whole, ½ or ¼ pig however; if you require different quantities, cuts etc. then please call us to discuss.

The slaughter and butchering process

We have our pigs slaughtered at a local abattoir (Lobbs), a short drive from us. They are very good and we have always been happy with their process; their welfare standards are excellent.  We use Kittows of Fowey for our butchery, which are slightly more pricey than some alternatives but we have found the quality of their butchery to be far superior and they will butcher to our exact specification.  If you are interested in buying a whole or half pig and wish to arrange alternative butchering please contact us as it is not usually hard to arrange.

Delivery and Prices

We like to sell our fresh products locally but if you do live further afield and would like to buy our pork please contact us. Overnight frozen delivery can be arranged.

A whole pig - £270 (approx 40-50kg) - delivery £30

Half a pig - £140 (approx 20-25kg) - delivery £15

Quarter pig - £75 (approx 10kg) - delivery £10

3kg Taster box - £20 - delivery £7.50

We are confident our prices are reasonable for ethically produced Gloucester Old Spot pork; please feel free to compare them online with like for like producers; we are infact cheaper than the supermarket premium ranges. We are also confident that our Gloucester Old Spot Pork will be the best you have ever tried!
