Farrow to Fork Scheme

Owning a pig is great fun and the pork from free range rare breeds is second to none.  But for the average family it is simply not possible or practical. For a start, pigs are herd animals and so you would need at least 2 for them to be happy, then you would need enough land for them to wreck! However, here at Gilbury Farm we want to offer you the 'best of both worlds' with our Farrow to Fork scheme.

You can buy a pure breed Gloucester Old Spot piglet from us when it is born (you can even choose which one), we keep it and raise it along with its siblings and take it to either pork or bacon weight. We will keep you updated with pictures and news of its progress and life (as much or little detail as you want), and if you live locally or are holidaying in Cornwall you can even visit your pig! We will then arrange slaughter and butchery (to your requirements) and deliver your pig to your door.

It's a great way of knowing exactly where your meat has come from and how it was raised and gives children a healthy appreciation of the food chain and animal welfare. Furthermore you will be doing your bit to help preserve this traditional and rare British breed! How about buying a loved one a Gloucester Old Spot piglet as a birthday or Christmas present?

The Farrow to Fork scheme will be the same price as a whole pig (we may be able to find people to share ½ a pig each if necessary) but we require a 50% deposit on booking and the remaining 50% before delivery.
