Hatching eggs

CLOSED FOR WINTER

HATCHING EGGS WILL BE AVAILABLE AGAIN IN THE SPRING.

For the tablechicks

We have Light Sussex cross Indian Game hatching eggs for sale. This cross of two traditional breeds produces an excellent table bird.  They will fatten up in about 4-6 months in an entirely free range environment.

Rare Breed

We have pure breed Indian Game hatching eggs. The Indian Game breed is currently considered category 3; Vulnerable by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust. It is an old breed dating back to the 19th century.  The breed was developed here in Cornwall and is known in many parts of the the world as Cornish Game. It is a very heavy breed and was developed for it's abundant breast meat. For further information on the breed and its history please see the RBST webpage.

Purchasing Eggs From Us

We will not be supplying eggs this year unfortunately as our Cockerel appears not to like the ladies... we intend to buy a new cockerel at the end of the year when this years hatches are developed and we can be sure of getting a good one; apologies for the lack of eggs this year. However, here is the information for next year:

Post and packaging to the UK is £3.70 for 6 eggs. For postage abroad please contact us for cost. Alternatively eggs can be collected; for directions please see our Map. You can also meet the parent hens and cockerels if you collect.

We will collect the eggs to order to ensure absolute freshness and can offer after care advice on hactching etc. It is a good idea to contact us before ordering to get an idea of how long it will take us to collect the number of eggs you need.

Payment can be made securely through paypal.

If you would prefer to pay by checque then please contact us for details.

Hatching

The eggs can be hatched in an incubator but if you are new to chicken rearing and would like to have a go at hatching eggs under a broody hen then we have a short e-book available to download to get you started, to recieve a copy please contact us. We are also more than happy to give advice about hatching under a hen via email or telephone so please do not hesitate to contact us. Next year we hope to start running courses about hatching and dispatching chickens for the table and feedback about interest would be appreciated.
